do i need to leave the camera lens alone on my canon in auto focus.?
i read in the for dummies series that i should leave the lesnse alone in the af mode but can twist the lens to zoom in? now i'm afaird to do anything and scared i might of damaged the lens.
Some lenses will twist to zoom, other are push/pull depending on the style and age. The "leave it alone" instruction applies to the focusing ring, not the zoom ring. Look through your viewfinder and gently try to turn each ring. The one that moves will be the zoom ring and you should see the effect in the image size. As long as you don't force it you won't do any damage.
