How can i protect my car cd player from overheating and dying on me?
Last year i bought a Sony Xplod car cd/mp3 player. during the hot days of last summer, it totally died on me. The radio would work fine, but it would not read cds anymore no matter what i tried (lens cleaner, air blower, etc).
How can i protect my mp3 player from dying again? Is there any mp3 players that anyone can recommend that will do well against the summer heat?
Make sure you have a good ground connection. Turn off bass boost or loudness settings. Make sure you're not connected to too low a speaker impedance.
The best way to keep the head unit cool is to buy a separate amplifier to run your speakers. The CD player won't get hot if it doesn't have to use the internal amplifier, and component amps are designed to get rid of extra heat and can be mounted in locations with better ventilation.
