XLR Adapter for Professional Camcorder help?
Ok, so I have a BeachTek External XLR adapter attached to my camcorder. My camcorder itself has something denoted "XLR Adapter" SEPARATE from the BeachTek Adapter, the camcorder has an 8 pin XLR adapter. When using my external XLR, I get static with my shotgun mic ONLY when recording. I switched to MONO because I am using solely a shotgun mic. Is the static because of the BeachTek setup (i have everything plugged in correctly) or that I am not using the "adapter" present on my camera? If so, how do I go about fixing the problem?
Camera= Panasonic AGHMC40
External XLR Adapter= BeachTek DXA-6A
Shotgun Mic= Azden SGM-PDII
Ok, im sorry for being stupid, but i just read extensively into the BeachTek manual that i had to find online (didnt come with my DXA-6A) and fixed it on my own, thanks for the help though!
Agree with Clint B... also...
What is the audio level you are recording at? Loud?
What do the levels in the camcorder show?
Is the shotgun mic a condenser and use a power supply or battery? If it is an internal mic battery, is the battery fresh? Or is the BeachTek supplying phantom power. If it is, is the 9-volt battery in the BeachTek fresh?
Along with that, which BeachTek? DXA-2, 4, 6? Something else?
Are you in a position to use the mic with something else?
Do you have a replacement XLR cable to connect the mic to the BeachTek XLR adapter?
