Replicate an off-camera flash with built-in flash?
I'm considering purchasing either the Panasonic LX3 or Canon G10. I don't have a hot-shoe flash, and at this point, I don't really want to spend the money to get one. What are the ways I can rig my built-in camera flash to be less intrusive?
Someone told me that I could use a translucent sticky notes to refract the light to make it more ambient. Or use a piece of white paper at an angle in front of the flash to reflect it upwards.
Anyone have some good trade secrets or perhaps some elaboration on the methods I've mentioned?

It's pretty tough to do. Not that you can't figure out or buy something to bounce the flash. The big problem you have is that the built in flash doesn't have the oomph to bounce.
Think about it - your flash might be effective for 10 feet. Now you bounce it off the ceiling - that's 3-4 feet up and at least 3-4 feet down (and only a foot or two in front of you). The light is being scattered at the same time.
Don't want to discourage you, but it is a difficult thing to do successfully.
