Cap Canon Power

Why no pic in my Canon Powershot S3 IS?
Batteries are new and work fine. I can look at old pictures so I know power and the screen both work. I did "Reset all" to defaults.
However, when I go to take a picture its as if the lense cap was on (it is not). I just get grey. I can even take and capture the picture but all is grey.
HELP!!!???!!!
