Toshiba Laptop ] key cap wont fit back on...?
Hi. I have a Toshiba Laptop, and my ] key cap broke after my dog decided to power slide across my laptop. The key is held by 1 set of |X| hinges. the top of the |X| is attached to the key and works fine. However, where the key attaches to the metal clip on my keyboard, the key doesn't sit right. Whenever put the key on, it stays on, but when i push the bottom of the key it pops the front up. On the top part of the bottom, there is a minuscule piece of plastic that got chipped off, and i know that's the source of my problem. I need to fix the key somehow, or get it fixed professionally. I bought the laptop in August, 2008 during tax free weekend from Best Buy, but i didn't have the extra money for a warranty. Is there anyway i can fix it, or have someone else fix it, and if so how much will it cost. Please email me at bombsquadhero@yahoo.com if you have any questions. Thanks to whoever helps!
it's less comfortable to work this way, but it's possible.
I have very handy father, and he tried anything, and failed.
you may find similar laptop keyboard and take the matching key. but be very careful about it.
alternatively, you can buy rolled keyboard, which is very cheap.
you got lucky you didn't have a real problem. it is extreemly not recommended to skimp on warranty (I got 3 out of 4 of my laptops broken in the first 2 years).
