how to fix a broken laptop (no display)? (when i know what's wrong)?
okay, so this is an old laptop that all i need is for it to check email. i took off the casing and the power to the lcd screen is fine and on the other side there is the data cable which on the base pugs in like a chip, and going to the screen, turns to data film and coils up and into the monitor. it looks like the tape has come unglued at the chip (it's secure underneath, but it's supposed to touch when it hits the side too). if i sit there and press it into the side of the chip it works fine. data won't go through glue (right?), and tape won't work-not enough strength. what is this thing called and how do i get a new one, or how do i fix this one. thanks!
