What is the best hot mirror filter available that screws onto the lens (77mm thread)?
A few months ago, we had a Canon 40D converted to UVIR + Visible through LifePixel. They replaced the hot mirror mirror filter with clear glass that allows the full spectrum to pass. I've got the IR filters I want for infrared photography. I also have a B+W 486 Hot Mirror filter, but I am not really satisified with its results for visible only. I would like to get it to look as close as possible to an unmodified 40D. Some of it can be fixed in Photoshop, but not all since it still passes some near infrared.
What I would like to know is if there is a better filter that cuts the near infrared spectrum better than the B+W 486 that I have?
The B+W 486 is one of the best UV-IR cut filters.
About your only other options are Leica or Heliopan filters at this level of filter. The Leica is weaker, the Heliopan is about the same, but less likely to flare

I highly doubt you will be able to get it much better than you already have it though.
