rebel xti lens . strange problem for me.?
recently bought a rebel xti but i dint buy a kit lens. instead i bought canon 50mm f 1.8 after reading lot of good reviews. but now i feel i am kind of handicapped having this lens. what i have noticed is that its a pretty ok Lens for portraits but when i try to take a picture of a flower closeup say i am one and half feet away from the subject only a tiny portion of the Flower is in focus and the rest looks blur.
also i have a beautiful city skyline in front of my house whenever i try to get a pic of someone standing in front of the skyline i end up either focusing only on the person or the background. what i need is focus both on person and the skyline behind. what Lens should i use?
also what Lens do i have to use if i have to take the skyline pics alone.. i am ready to buy other good alternatives if not canon lens .. not ready to spend more than 300$ for lens.
For the person in front of the skyline you'll need to close down the aperture. Since you seem new to this the easy way to do it is put the camera dial on "A" and turn the wheel to make the aperture number bigger (f/8, f/11, or f/16)
For the flower, you can't get really close to anything & get a lot in focus. not even a very expensive Macro lens (which is better) will fix that.
