Closeup Macro Lens
How do i use this lens?

I have a Nikon D5000 and a sigma telezoom macro lens. I am completely new and havent a clue. I know what macro is, and a friend told me telezoom macro lenses are for closeups, although i thought it must be for far away things saince all i can focus on are things that are far away. Can anyone tell me why this is. Id love to tke good close ups. I have autofocussed and focussed it manually but both will only begin to focus on something around 2m away! hardely macro, lol!

What size is the lens?
70-300?
50-200? etc etc.
It would help to know.

I have a 70-300, and as Chao ciao has mentioned, its not a proper macro, and the 'macro' facility can only be used between 200-300, when you have flicked the switch over.

Although it works well as a telephoto lens, and I have some excellent (IMO) close up examples in my gallery, a cheaper alternative for macro lenses can be found here. http://www.omaxphoto.com/digital-camera-accessories.html
Again, although not proper macro, they are a much cheaper alternative to use with your kit lens and can be used to good effect. Available on ebay for about £15 or less.

Look for your filter size on your kit lens then choose from the list.
It doesnt matter what camera they say, as it will fit any camera with the same size filter thread.
