remote flash trigger problems?
i have brought a remote flash trigger for my canon speedlite 550ex flash. when doing indoor shots and my shutter speed is over 1/200 the end result is that the photo is half black, the higher i go the more of the photo is covered. i've tried changing the setting on the flash but that does not help and some times the flash is too bright for the shot. is there a setting on the camera that i am missing?
Camera is a Canon 450 XTI

You're shooting over the maximum synch speed that you're camera will go to. What you're seeing is the second shutter curtain closing whilst the flash is firing.
If you're indoors, you should not need high shutter speeds - should be easily able to kill ambient at 1/1200. If your flash is over-exposing the subject then turn the ISO down to 100 or so, and/or stop down the aperture (its the aperture that controls flash exposure, not shutters speed - shutter speed controls ambient light exposure). Move the flash away from the subject and reducing its power will all help too.
