looking for filters for my DSLR lenses?
I want to get a set of filters for my two lenses that i use on my Canon 7D, since i have a 40$ gift card on amazon
I have a
- Tamron Zoom Super Wide Angle 17-50mm f/2.8
- Canon 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS
I believe i need a 72mm filter for my Canon lens and a 67mm for my Tamron. Am i correct?
i was thinking of getting an ND filter for my Canon lens because i tend to use the Video Mood a lot and its just sometimes too bright for me to take a video in my desired setting.
are these good choices and are they gonna work on my lenses?

The filter diameters for your lenses are actually printed on the lenses themselves but, I believe you are correct. ND filters are usually used to balance exposure when you need to expose for one part of the frame without over exposing the rest. It is possible to use ND filters for the entire frame but, one usually adjusts aperture, shutter and ISO to correct for these issues first.
I've used the video features of my 5DmkII and 7D only to a limited extent but, I find that if the camera is in Programmed Exposure (P) mode and auto ISO is enabled that there aren't many scenes that prove to be too bright for the camera to handle. What I've heard from pros using the features however is that some are using ISO to control exposure while in video mode. In otherwords, shutter speed is generally dictated by frame rate and/or the "look" they want, aperture controls depth of field, and ISO is used to dictate how bright the scene appears to be. I am not a cinematographer nor videographer so I cannot speak to whether or not this is correct but, it seems to make the pros I know quite happy.
