Question on SONY Digital Camera DCR-HC28?
My parents got my daughter a present - Sony Digital Camera Recorder DCR-HC28. Yet, when I tried to connect it to the PC to review video, I could not find where it is being connected from. There was no cable. Also the disc that came with the product does not contain drivers at all. I went to the SONY support side and could not find drivers for this product at all. Does anyone knows if this model even designed to connect to PC?
The DCR-HC28 can be hooked up to the computer, but you have to have the correct ports. All video cameras require a Firewire (also called IEEE1394 or i.Link) interface. All Apple computers have it built in, while other manufacturers may or may not include it. Depending on your computer, you may have to purchase a Firewire interface in the form of a PCMCIA or PCI card. these can be had for as little as $10.
The cable that you need is easily purchased as well, just make sure it is a firewire cable with the right end on it. Like USB, there are several different types of connectors for Firewire.
Along with the hardware, you will need some software if you want to edit movies. There are plenty of solutions out there, ranging from Microsoft Movie Maker, to Final Cut Pro.
You should not need any drivers for this camera, they are included with all Microsoft XP and Vista (except Starter version and 64-bit versions)
