Pro-Digital Circular Polarized Lens Filter?
I know that this filter is good for landscape photos, but I'm wondering if it would be good for outdoor, natural light portraits? I read that this filter is great at enhancing colors, but it also darkens shadows. I am trying to figure out how to make my photos (of people) brighter (and colors in my photos brighter), my camera takes good pictures, but when I compare them to a professional picture, they just look dull. Any suggestions on lenses, filters, anything?
Here is an example of one of my photos, please help me improve.

BTW my camera is a Nikon D3000
You can increase saturation on your camera in "Picture Control". That will give you deeper colours as you take your pictures.
Or you can download Picasa from Google (it's free), use auto-contrast and increase colour saturation on the pictures you've already taken. Like....

That's your picture, then with increased saturation and autocontrast, finally one with a soft focus effect (for no real reason). All done on Picasa and united by Gimp (also free).
