Neutral Density filter question?
I own the Panasonic Lumix TZ10:
http://www.panasonic.co.uk/html/en_GB/Products/LUMIX+Digital+Cameras/Super+Zoom/DMC-TZ10/Specification/3377878/index.html?trackInfo=true
and I'd like to be able to take photos of waterfalls/streams etc using slow shutter speeds.
I've tried during the day, using a tripod but the result is way overexposed.
The smallest aperture I can set is F6.3, I've borrowed a ND8 filter from a friend but the result is still over-exposed with any shutter speeds over 1 second.
I have to hand hold the filter in front of the lens as you cannot screw them on, so I wondered if a stronger ND filter would do the trick, something like ND16?
Do you think I should try that, I don't know how good they are but you can get some cheap ones on ebay...
http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_nkw=nd16+filter&_sacat=0&_odkw=massa+nd16+filter&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313
Any advice greatly received.
Well depends. An ND8 probably would work depending on prevailing weather and time of day.
You don't really want to go to much more than 5 seconds anyway as the longer you go the more sensitive to light leaks a setup becomes, so an ND16 should be about right.
