How can I take a flattering portrait photograph of a middle aged person?
A 40 year old woman has asked me to do some portraits of her. I am afraid that the pictures will not be complimentary. Please let me know of lighting arrangements and any other ideas that could help produce good results.
The subject has some fine wrinkles, fair complexion, blond hair. Her most striking feature is her eyes. I've asked her not to do any makeup that has a lot of shine.
The camera is an Olympus E-volt 500, with the 40-150mm lens.
Lighting options are the built in flash, tripod mounted filler flash, and a two sided (sparkle/white) reflector disk. Location can be indoor or out.
My usual subjects are kids and extended family, and this is the first time I will be photographing for cash, so any tips about decorum and protocol would be helpful too.

As a person ages their neck skin becomes loosened. Make sure no poses require a major neck twist, such as the over the shoulder or feminine 3/4. Lights fairly flat on and diffused are better for hiding wrinkles. I would shoot about 3 inches above her eyes, leaned slightly forward to stretch the neck skin and accentuate her eyes.
