Olympus E-PL1 or Sony NEX-5? CONFUSED!! HELP!!!?
the olympus has the fun and sony is more serious but has some downfalls ive heard about in reviews... which one is better? i dont care about the money. i mainly would take this for vacations for high quality picture/audio HD vids and high quality pictures as well for many projects. ... but also the sony has features the olympus doesnt have but it DoEESNT HAVE A WIND FILTER!!! ugh ... idk im very confused should i just wait until the e-pl2 comes out and see what it has to offer? if it doesnt come out by july and i havnt made up my mind i think im just gonna go with a nikon p100...any thoughts? which would you prefer or think would be more usefuly for me?
Here's a review of the Olympus E-PL1: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/olympusepl1/page18.asp
This camera is not for everyone - the styling is cute but it sucks at action shots etc.
The Sony NEX-5 won't hit stores until June so don't count on getting your hands on one in time for your vacation - there's going to be a waiting list for the first few weeks. You could get on a waiting list yourself, but I'd personally wait for in-depth reviews before committing to one.
The Nikon P100 is a point & shoot with a 26x zoom lens. It's a completely different kind of camera. (If you need that kind of zoom, why are you even looking at the other options?)
The Olympus E-P2 costs $850 without a lens. For that kind of money I'd get a dSLR kit.
In fact, how about a dSLR like the Nikon D5000? It's in your price range. A dSLR is more responsive for action shots; better in low light; a better platform for adding additional lenses & flashes; many (incl. the D5000) also do video, etc... The only drawback might be size, but it's not like the Olympus E-P1 is small enough to slide into a jacket pocket either (not comfortably - I've tried).
