audi battery light flicking with the ignition switch in the on position with engine stationary?
audi 80 94 diesel, alternator light is flicking at stand still and engine and charge rate is affected , i was thinking can i fit a separate bulb holder or will this affect the glow start set up the problem seems a dash problem as when i use a jump wire, at the alternator the output is fine any help appreciated
Confusing question. It is normal for the battery light to stay on until the engine has started. If it stays on with the engine running, you may have a problem! Sometimes the wire from the alternator to the dashboard electronics has frayed, or has built up corrosion on it. Try power washing your engine. Get a free charge system test at AutoZone or other store. CHECK the wiring harness at the alternator. You might be having a diode or carbon brush issue that is hiding. GOOD LUCK!! P.S. Run "diesel purge", a product from Lubro-Moly, through your fuel system. You will be amazed at how nicely your older engine will run. It cleans the injector pintels, fuel pump, piston tops and rings, all at once!!!
