Lens Hood Question? D40?
I was shocked when I couldn't figure this out by googling it.
I need a lens hood for my d40 with stock lens (18-55). To find it I type in d40 lens hood on amazon and 52mm hoods come up. What mm lens hood am I looking for? I had thought it was 55mm.
And do lens hoods fit all? Or are there Nikon/Canon specific hoods for a 55mm?
THANKS!

Vignetting is when the hood is visible in the corners of the frame. It will cause the corners of all your photos to be black.
The hood you need is

For future reference the filter thread size for the 18-55mm lens is 52mm. This is the circumference of the front of the lens.
