Hot Shoe Flash

I have a SFD290 flash and a nikon coolpix 6000 what type of hot shoe/adapter do I need to make this work?
My flash is a bower but of course I can't find a sync port on my p6000, I looked on line and they said sometimes a hotshoe can solve the problem of using a non-nikon flash...what do I need to make this a marriage? help please.
So how do I get the flash to work.... how do I sync it with my nikon?
The Nikon Coolpix P6000 has a hot shoe so any ISO flash should work
Any of the listed dedicated flash units are the best way to go.

Bower claims that the flash you have will work on any hot shoe, so no sync cord is necessary.

But you do know of course a $40 flash will not have all the functions that the Nikon SB series flashes will have.
NOTE:
The hot shoe (this means that the camera communicates with the flash) causes the camera/flash sync.
NOTE:2: If the flash is not operating, there is something wrong with the flash unit.
NOTE:3: Make sure that the cameras shutter speed is set at or below the flash sync speed.
