Is this a good gaming computer build?
Iv decided to build my own computer, Id like something powerful enough to play games such as counterstrike source and team fortress 2 on full specs as well as being able to play most other games.
These are my specifications
Intel ATX E8400 CORE 2 DUO /3.0GHz/6MB/1333FSB/LGA775
Intel DP45SG P45 LGA775 ATX 1333FSB DDR3 GbLAN 2xPCIE2.0 AUDIO RAID
Kingston 3GB(3 X 1GB) DDR3-1333MHZ
Samsung 160GB 8MB 7200RPM SATA HDD
Zotac GeForce 9800GT 512M DDR3 Synergy Edition
Asus VW202B 20 inch Wide 5ms LCD Display
Asus DRW-22B1S 22x DVDRW IDE Retail Black NERO8
10/100/100 Gigabit Network Card
Antec Nine Hundred Tower Gaming Case with side window Black(No PSU)
Antec ATX TruePower 750W
USB Keyboard Black
Logitech G5 Laser Mouse
Microsoft Windows XP PRO (OEM)
Would this all run on windows xp? or is it too much ram ect?
Any ideas of what i should change?
Any help would be appreciated as this is my first own built computer.
That is a excellent build, but have you considered overclocking? You could use a GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R motherboard, which uses the same chipset as your proposed system, but with dramatically enhanced power handling and overclocking options in the bios. Then you could use a Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz CPU, which has double the cores and 2mb more cache. People are easily overclocking these to over 3ghz on air, which would blast your current system out of the water. Also, you could use cheaper ddr2 memory, as it is not nearly as important as the CPU in gaming. Everything else you could leave the same and it would be fine. Except... The Geforce 250's are only $150 now, that would seem a better fit for your build, as you have plenty of power. And yes, it would all run good on XP, tho, it would also run good on Vista too.
