nikon 55mm f/1.8 prime lens - Focus issues?
Hi all.
Thanks to all of you who helped me recently regarding my Q's about lense choices. Today I purchased a new Nikon 55mm f/1.8 prime lense for my D40.
I can manually focus the lense at f/22 no problems, but when I adjust the aperture ring to f/1.8 my camera tells me to lock it back into f/22.
Also the focus brackets in the LCD screen allways flash on the left hand side.
1) How can I shoot at f/1.8?
2) Can I adjust the focus bracket to centre?
3) Do I need to be adjusting the camera aperture aswell as the lense aperture?
Thanks very much everyone for looking and thanks in advance for replying, I really appreciate it"!!!
Riggers...
1) lock your lens to the lowest aperture, which in this case is f/22. To change your aperture settings, turn the mode dial to "A" and use the control dial to change the aperture value. Simple as that.
2) Yes you can. Select single-point af in your menu, and use the control pad on the back of the camera to select your desired focus bracket.
3) no you do not. Unless you turn the mode dial to "M", the only way to select aperture is to do so via the camera body. The aperture ring on the lens itself should be locked all the time at the lowest aperture.
