Lcd Screen Backlight

Is replacing a lcd screen on a laptop hard?
I have a compaq presario 1525us and the screen i cracked up and blotched. So Im considering replacing the screen.
I see on videos all you do is unscrew the frame, then unscrew the lcd, the unlpug the two cords, then put the new screen in, then plug it in, then screw everything back. Is it really that easy and is a new lcd all I need? the backlight works and I can see windows around the cracks. Thanks.
The most difficult parts in the procedure for someone new to the process are really only in two places.
1. Removing the Bezel around the screen.
To do this without cracking or breaking the bezel, you must ensure you locate and remove the screws holding it in place. They will be covered but easily identifiable. Then, pick a side. Take a thin blade of a small knife and push the lid side of the line where the two halves meet and slide the blade under the top half. Levering up with the blade, push the top bezel up and the lid half in and down. In this manner you can lever along gently, unclipping the small plastic tabs that hold the two halves together.
2. Removing the screen before detaching cabling.
After you have the bezel off and the screws on each side of the LCD panel out, you gently tild the lid forward with your hand on the LCD panel. You tilt the lid forward until your hand is supporting the LCD, and then you tilt the lid backward just enough to separate the lid from the panel so you can reach behind the panel and disconnect the flat, thin plug that connects the data ribbon cable to the panel. Too large of a gap, and you can damage the ribbon cable connector... it is thin and fragile. Once that is free, you can lift the lid completely and disconnect the inverter connection.
end of line
