Is there a difference between a lens cap for 35mm and 58mm film cameras?
I'm looking to replace a lens cap for my canon 35 mm slr film camera and can't find one, the closest i can find it 58...does it fit the same?

35mm is the film your camera takes, but it can also be the focal length of your lens. Neither has anything directly to do with the lens cap. There are no 35mm lens caps (the closest would be 34 or 37) so I know that's not what you're looking for.
A Minolta 50mm lens took a 49mm filter/lens cap, but a Nikon took a 52mm filter. Look at the front of your lens; there will be some numbers. For example: "Nikon 50mm f1:1.8 Ø 52mm"
Whatever number follows the Ø symbol is the filter/lens cap size.
