Can some one help me identify a rifle scope?
i own a rifle scope and have no idea where it is from can anyone help. It is roughly 18 inches long and about 1/2 inch in diametre. It is solid brass. It is slightly telecopic consisting of two brass tubes that slide into each other about three inch. It is completeely cylindrical and does not "open out" at either end. One set of lens have cross hairs within them. There are no marking on it apart from a military arrow. It is extremely robust and doesn't seem to be missing any thing. It is also extremely well made and obviously once a precision instrument.I get the feeling that it is some kind of early military or sporting scope. I am based in northern england and have no history with other contries so i assume it is english. Please help?
I believe those were used by both sides in the civil war on there muzzle loaders. Here is a picture of what I'm thinking of anyway. Hope this helps.
