I have a Cannon Power Shot A75. The display screen is black when i go to take a picture. The pictures i take area all black when i view them on a computer. What is wrong here? (No, I dont have a lens cap on)
The A75 doesn't have a lens cap, so indeed that possibility can be summarily dismissed.
Things to check for:
- Press the “DISP.” button several times, to cycle between LCD screen modes (one of which probably is to have it turned off). This may sound too obvious, but I have the SD700, with the same feature, and it actually happened to me one; I freaked out big time (it was pretty new) until I found out I had inadvertently pushed this button, making the LCD turn off (theoretically, to use the optical viewer instead).
- Set the shooting mode to Auto, as a quick way to ensure that you haven't just chosen too close an aperture and/or too fast a shutter speed that would indeed cause the image to go dark.
- If all else fails, try resetting the camera completely (through its MENU screen).
- Make sure that you have a fully charged, compatible battery.
If it still doesn't work, it might be time to consider that it's not working properly, and therefore it might need to be repaired.
