what slr should i get?
a cannon ae-1 with a 200mm and a 50mm lens ($200)
or a minolta x-700 with 50mm f/1.4 normal lens+ 1a fliter
28mm f/2.5 wide lens+polarized filter
50mm f/3.5 macro lens+1a fliter ($300)
That's true, it depends what you will be using it for.
Canom ae-1 is a great camera(I have had one for a very long time), but if you mean the canon ae-1 (not program - therefore has no auto settings) then I think that you should get the Minolta as it does have this feature. A 50mm f/1.4 is a better lens than a 50mm f/1.8 which I am assuming is the lens that comes with the Canon. Again, I would say to go with the Minolta because of this. But then I would also suggest the Canon Ae-1 because you can buy more lenses for a relatively cheap price, and they are pretty common. You havent really given enough information though, are you going to be buying them off ebay? If so be sure that it is in very good condition and the seller knows what they are talking about. I ordered a camera from Ebay and it had plenty of mold on the mirror inside for me.
