Lens Hood Fit

My lens hood wont fit onto my 58mm lens!?
I have a 58mm lens and I accidentally/blindly purchased a 58mm lens hood for my video camera. The lens hood of course will not screw on. Is there anything such as rings/adapters to make this fit?
I do live in NYC near B&H Photo/video, but what should I ask for? (if fixable)
Why not just take the whole outfit, lens and hood, into B&H and tell them the issue to see what they can do?
