Panasonic Lumix LZ-7 troubleshooting - lens won't open/close properly.?
When I turn on the camera, the automatic lens cover only opens about half-way, so when i take a picture there are 2 black areas at the top and bottom of the picture. When I turn off the camera, The lens covers stay where they are and don't close. Any idea how to fix them, to make them open and close completely?
Try new batteries. The absolute minimum on digital cameras is alkaline. If you can, buy Energizer Lithiums. If you use rechargeables, get those that rate greater than 2100maH. Digital cameras are power hungry devices. Even just opening a door takes a lot.
If it still doesn't work, and it's just the door, try pushing it gently, with a cotton swab, without touching the lens, while it is supposed to be fully opened. Gently. If it doesn't respond, have it looked at a camera repair center or the store you bought it from.
