Found Konica Minolta Camera! Help Please!?
I Just found a Konica Minolta Maxxum htsi plus camera. I'v known i'v had it, it was given to me long ago. I have never had a lense for it. I was wondering if anyone knows about this camera. Is it a good camera? Also, the little piece of glass inside the camera on top where the lense hooks up has a splotch on it. Will this affect the pictures taken by this camera if i bought a lense?
It wasn't a brilliant camera and it's probably not worth your while getting lenses (all A Mount Minolta, all Konica-Minolta and all Sony lenses will fit but DT lenses will crop the image on a 35mm camera) just to use the camera.
It wasn't a bad camera, neither, come to think of it - good AF, predictive AF, decent X-sync speed, multiple exposure etc. The 'splotch' won't affect photos.
So, then, it probably IS worth your while getting a lens for it - but remember it's the lens that makes the picture; a cheap nasty bottom-of-the-range lens from any manufacturer will leave you with a bitter after taste. Get on eBay and look for a good(ish) second-hand Minolta lens (A-mount only).
And, just to rebuke the other answerers, Konica-Minolta managed to produce the best dSLR ever - the Maxxum 7D that's still leagues ahead of modern counterparts in terms of handling. The camera was built from Minolta's line of cameras including the best ever 35mm body - the Maxxum/Dynax 7 - and a huge history of 'firsts' like autofocus bodies, wireless flash systems etc. Konica Minolta lenses are, generally, as good as Minolta lenses and the top lenses were among the best available regardless of mount.
They didn't know how to sell their cameras, that was their main problem - and that was also a major fault of Minolta.
