Sony Alpha A100 question?
Have been looking at dslr cameras and had it narrowed down to the Canon Xti or the Olympus E510. However I just discovered that the Sony alpha takes the lenses I already have. I have two Sigma lenses from an old Minolta Maxxum 5 that are 28-80mm f3.5-5.6 II mini zoom macro and a 70-300mm f4-5.6 dl macro super. Is it worth me buying the Alpha over the Xti or the E510 just because I already have these lenses. I really can't afford any hugely expensive lenses for any camera and am not really sure I need them since I'm primarily just wanting really good quality photos of my children. I mainly just want a camera that focuses fast (for moving kids) and doesn't have the kind of noise problem that my Olympus 750 Ultrazoom has. Thanks in advance.
Yes, your old Minolta lenses will work with the Sony Alpha.
That makes for a compelling reason to stick with the Sony rather than purchase the Canon.
I admit it: I'm a Canon fan. On top of that, I don't much care for Sony, largely because of their proprietary Memory Stick cards. Still, your lenses and the savings you'll realize from not having to replace them are reason enough to stay with the Sony.
Enjoy snapping those kid pix!
