Multi Coated Dmc

How bad is lens flare with filters?
I have read that you should buy multi coated filters to prevent lens flare. I'm a poor student who just does photography for fun... Should I buy multi coated? They are almost always atleast 2x-4x the price of monocoated or no coating at all.
I want good pictures, yes, but I'm just an amateur student. Do I need multi coated filters, or is that more for professionals?
How often will I experience lens flare if I don't buy multi coated?
I am using a Panasonic DMC-FZ7.
If you do think they should be coated, then any specific ones? I am buying a 3 stop ND (Hoya) , Circular Polarizer (Sunpak), Skylight (B&W), and close up lens (Tiffen)
Also, could you reccomend me some good brands? Are those brands okay? I'm worried about Sunpak...
To me, honestly, no they're not worth the extra cost.
I leave an uncoated filter on all of my lenses all the time for protection. Since this is my filter to get banged up, smudged, etc, I don't worry about getting pricey multi coated filters. Fingerprints and smudges tend to negate the effect of the coating, anyway, and coated filters can be fussy to clean(uncoated ones can be washed with soap and water or wiped off with a kleenex in a pinch).
What I do, though, is remove the filter any time I find myself in a situation where flare might be a problem. This is generally any time I have the camera pointed directly at the sun or the sun just outside the field of view.
I use primarily 20+ year old lenses...coating technology has improved so much in the past 20 years that I don't think even the issues I mentioned above are as much of a problem as they once were.
