Can anyone please describe the appropriate situations to use these flash accessories?
Hi, I am still trying to learn how to predict the flash accessories/settings I need to get the shots I want in indoor/outdoor sunshine/lowlight situations and keep finding varied results and could use some help.
I use a nikon d300s + sb600 flash.
The flash accessories I am working with are:
- Lumiquest Pocket Bouncer
- Lumiquest Softbox
- Sto-fen Omni Bounce
- 1/2, 1/4, & 1/8 Rosco Sun gels
I'm mainly trying to learn what to use when shooting candid shots of people (with & without the background) for these situations:
- outdoor sunshine
- outdoor nighttime
- indoor low-light w/ close walls + ceiling
- indoor low-light large area
Any advice would be welcome. tx -b
The accessories are good ones.
Only testing and practice will teach you when and how to use them
Using artificial light can seem to be difficult in the beginning, but once you figure it out, it will seem natural

I use a Gary Fong Lightsphere, Collapsible diffuser, nothing else when shooting outdoors.
In the studio, the lighting can get quite complex with up to twenty different lights and light modifiers, gels, etc.
