sony handycam is not recording video?
hey. I traded for a sony handycam off of craigslist... the model is the CCD-TRV138 NTSC
when I met the guy this was the only item that "wasnt charged". so I couldnt check to see if everything was cool. I got home... everything is working fine except its not recording video...
when I turn it on all the screen shows is a black fuzzy static filled screen. it says the date and time and battery and all that...
I hit record and it records and when I play it back I get the audio...
so my question is can I fix this? I cant just send it in to get a repair because I bought it used so I dont have any sort of warranty.
and if I cant fix it... about how much could I sell it for as is for parts or whatever?

It could be something as simple as the heads need cleaning, cannot find any cheap ones around maybe you can

run it in your camera for around 10 seconds, then try the camera again, is the tape new or an old on, if its old try a new one after you have cleaned it, putting an old tape in afterwards could just make the heads dirty again
If that fails then you may need either to get the heads cleaned by hand, you can do it yourself,
This is for a VHS player but the system is the same.

apart from that it could be the heads, if thats the case its probably not worth fixing.
Does it have a value as parts, if someone wants a part that is working then yes, if they want the heads then no. you may get 10-20 for it.
