Can't get the lens cap off?
okay, this may sound like a dumbass question, but I recently bought a 50mm lens for my nikon d3000 and I can't get the damn lens cap off. I'm sure you just twist it off, but it's superrr tight and even my dad couldn't help me get it off, he even used pliers to try and loosen it. I might be oblivious to a certain way of taking it off, and if so, is there a way to take it off? there were two, one you pinch the side levers and it comes right off, while the other where it attached to the camera has maybe a screw on cap
The thread on a camera are very fine. Your lens cap may have become cross threaded somehow.
This is going to make putting filters on your camera very difficult if you have (to use the technical term) bunged up the threads.
I know it sound counter intuitive but sometimes if you just turn it a little toward the tighten side you can turn it off. It frees up the threads a little and allows the cap to turn in the loosen direction.
The hard part of this is that it is a camera lens and is easy to break with any of the usual ways of removing screwed on parts.
On anything else but a camera lens i would recommend a pair of channel lock pliers and some gentle persuasion.
