Polarizer Filter Lens

What is a good filter for lens?
What is a good UV filter and a good Polarizer filter to use on my 67mm Canon EF-S 17-85MM f4-5.6 IS USM and my 77mm Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM? Is it okay to use both the UV and the Polarizer at the same time, and if so, which one should be on the outside?
Here's the best answer... and it's because I provided it.
You don't need a UV/filter to protect your lens and if you don't WANT to use the circular polarizer (that is the polarizer you want) you can take it off but do this for your photography sake.
If you have a 58mm lens size, buy a 62mm circular polarizer and a step up ring for the lens to polarizer arrangement. This will prevent vignetting because your glass element edges will not interfere in the composition.
You want to add to your purchase by purchasing a lens cap for the 62mm (larger) lens.
Now, you not only have lens protection with the polarizer and the convenience of having a usable filter (UV is corrected with polarization anyway) but also protection for your lens.
Avoid stacking filters. Any addition of two glass surfaces (one filter) adds to the degradation of the image. That's why fixed lenses are better than zooms.
