Powerful Flash Unit

Flash for Nikon DSLR? Metz 58 AF1 or Nikon SD-800?
I asked this question earlier, but I should have included model numbers. Sorry.
Both flashes are roughly the same cost. I have a Nikon D70.
The Nikon is obviously 100% compatible. But Metz claims to be compatible with i-TTL. The main thing is that the Metz seems to be significantly more powerful.
In the end, is power all that really matters? Any thoughts on these two units?
I can not say to much about the Metz flash but I do own a Nikon SB-800 and it is a good flash. But on the other side of the house I do 99% of my shooting using a SB-28DX.
Is there a reason you have to have the SB-800?
Remember it is not just the power but you have to have the recycle time and your other settings on your camera, (ISO, f~stop, shutter speed) plus your flash to subject distance. Also what the ambient light is around your subject.
