Which of these would give me a Good Magnified Macro shot?
Consider I have the following equipment:
- Canon 5D Mark II
- Canon EF 100mm F2.8L macro IS lens
- Canon EF 50mm F1.4
- Kenko Extension Tube set - 36mm / 20mm / 12mm
- Macro Coupler for reverse mounting the 50mm onto the 100mm (58mm to 67mm thread size)
Now me not having any knowledge of how magnification is calculated or what formula is used.
- What combination of the above would give me the highest level of magnification?
- What combination of the above would give me the a good level of magnification and a reasonable working distance from my subject.
- Is there anything I can add to my equipment to achieve a higher level of magnification?
"Divide the extension tube length in mm by the lens's focal length." Found here after a web search for 'calculating magnification using extension tubes':
http://www.ehow.com/how_5642024_use-extension-tubes-magnification-lenses.html
So if you used all 3 of your extension tubes on your 100mm macro lens you'd divide 68mm by 100mm and get a magnification of 0.68.
If you use all 3 of your extension tubes on your 50mm lens you'll get a 1.36 magnification.
