Screw Lens Hood

How do I attach the provided lens hood onto the lens of my Nikon D60? It doesn't screw on...?
I've checked the manual and I am not able to find any attachment points on the lens. Can you please help?
Lens hoods twist on similarly to the lens to the body. Find the white dot on the front of the lens (probably right on top and in front), find the white dot on the lens hood (on top and in the back), match them, twist clockwise about 1/4 turn.
