How do i put footage from my sony handycam dcr hc24 onto my computer?
i dont have usb but i hear if you do it that way its low quality anyway.
i mean i havent got a usb cable
this camera uses cassettes
You'll need to capture the video via firewire rather than USB - if your PC hasn't already got one you'll need to install a firewire card. They're cheap, easy to install and readily available. You'll also need a firewire cable. As the previous answer said, if your PC hasn't got a USB port it may be too low a spec to handle digital video.
Video transferred from a MiniDV camcorder, like yours, via USB IS low quality - it's not a myth!! The video data is streamed off the tape and USB isn't good at streaming. To get round that, the video is compressed to a small size but low quality before being transferred. Camcorders using cards or hard drives don't stream the data, they use file transfer - USB is fine for that, so there's no drop in quality.
