Vivitar Flash Canon
| Powered by phpBay Pro |

I have a Canon What do I need to sync my Canon Rebel XS with a Vivitar 285HV for off camera shooting?
I'm not interested in anything wireless, since lag time will ruin my shots and I don't want to spend a lot of $$. So how can I connect? PC cord and some adapters...but what exactly?
Thanks for the help
Oh, also, what is the best size for a shoot through umbrella to go with that flash? Just trying to experiment with a small home studio. ![]()
Thanks FotoZ, but apparently you didn't read the entire question. I'm on a budget, and while a pocket wizard would be great, I can't afford it right now. Hence my concern for ending up with a cheap wireless system that produces lag time
You need a hot shoe - PC sync adaptor, something like this:

Canon DSLR's have lower trigger voltages than say, nikon for example. So a safe sync is needed to regulate the voltage so that viv 285hv doesn't fry your hot shoe trigger circuitry. Wein has been making these for years, they're very reliable. I'm not sure the viv has a PC terminal, so you'll need one of these too (PC to hotshoe adaptor): http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/109454-REG/Kaiser_201301_PC_to_Hot_Shoe.html Also if you've got a good brick-and-mortar camera shop in your area (non-ritz/wolf type), they'll have all sorts of adaptors and people who can point you in the right direction.
