Wide Angle Macro

Need help with a Nikon D40, and telephoto and wide angle attachments. I am not sure how to make them work.?
I have a 18-55mm lens, and a 55-200mm lens. When I attach the 3x Telephoto lens to the 200mm lens I get an unclear focus and a lot of blur if out to 200mm. Is this normal? I also have a wide angle with macro that is doing basically the same thing. If they are on the 18-55mm they are not as bad, but it is still not the same clarity as without them. I am new to photography, and do not know a lot yet. Do I need to change settings on my D40, to help these work better? Any answers or helpful hints would be appreciated.
Yikes! Don't do that.
You are experiencing exactly why you should not use external, add-on lenses. You have some of the highest quality lenses for your camera and have placed what is not much better than a coke bottle bottom on its front.
You need to take those back to whom ever sold them to you, get your money back and never buy anything from them again. They misled you and did you a disservice. They are not to be trusted .. period.
