What would be a good macro and zoom lens for my canon rebel?
I have a canon rebel xs , and I am looking for a zoom and macro lens in one. I want a good one so what do you recommend . I'm not looking to spend a lot of money on one, but i want a descent one.Thank you , and is getting a macro and zoom lens in one good ?

You don't say price range, so I image you need it to be rock-bottom pricing?
While the others are correct, for a TRUE macro lens you should get a fixed lens (also called a Prime lens), they haven't actually helped you and these lenses are expensive!
Have a look at the Tamron AF 70-300mm F4-5.6 Di LD Macro 1:2 as it is a CHEAP zoom.
It is not Image Stabilised, it is a bit soft past 200mm and it will not win any awards as a macro lens. But it might be just the cheap lens you are wanting for the odd close-up shot of flowers etc.
Just don't expect too much from it, it really is a budget lens.
